Dr. Jin Yi Kwon
Originally from Inchon, South Korea, Dr. Jin Yi Kwon moved to High Point, North Carolina in 1981. She attended high school at the North Carolina School of Science and Math in Durham, and she received a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995. After a few years of working in Korea, she returned to UNC-Chapel Hill and received an MPH in Nutrition in 2000. She then enrolled in the Dental School at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2003, and has thoroughly enjoyed practicing dentistry in the Triangle Area.
Dr. Kwon loves being a dentist and is passionate about building lasting relationships with her patients. She is committed to providing the highest quality of dental care, while being attentive to the smallest of details to ensure complete patient comfort and satisfaction. She is excited to have a team that shares this philosophy and has a commitment for excellent service and comprehensive safety protocols. Dr. Kwon understands the value of good oral care, and is keenly aware of the many aspects that may prevent people from scheduling dental visits: anxiety, scheduling conflicts, work, finances, family– just to name a few. Dr. Kwon believes in making sure that all of your concerns are addressed and will do her best to ensure you receive care that exceeds your expectations.
Dr. Kwon and her team believe in giving back to their community. She has been an active volunteer for the Baptist Men’s Dental bus, which offers free dental clinics around the Triangle and at the North Carolina State Fair each fall. Dr. Kwon and The Happy Tooth/Urban Oasis Team also participate in and sponsor local charitable races, such as the Race for the Cure, the Walk for Oral Cancer, Girls on the Run 5K, and the Sanford Road Race Series.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Kwon loves to spend time with her husband and young son. She is an avid runner, cyclist, and swimmer, and she enjoys pushing herself to be the best she can be. Dr. Kwon supports local racing teams, such as the UNC Cycling Team, the Elite Triangle Triathlon Team, The Happy Tooth Presented by InsideOut Elite Cycling Team, and the Storm Racing Team. Another passion is cooking, and she delights in sharing a good meal with family and friends.

Dr. Tara Bell 
Dr. Shelly Soch
Dr. Shelly Soch graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1998, receiving her doctorate in dental medicine. After a year of hospital residency in NY, she moved to Cary, NC in 1999 to join her husband as they began their married life in the area. Dr. Soch has practiced dentistry in the Cary/Raleigh area since. She believes in giving back to the community and spends time volunteering to treat those less fortunate through Wake Smiles and Baptist Church.
As the original founder and owner of Urban Oasis Dental, which opened its doors in 2005, Dr. Soch’s passion for the dental profession resonates in every corner within this practice. In order to assure the utmost in dental care for her family of patients, every detail was carefully thought out and planned by Dr. Soch herself. This spans from the latest dental technology to the most comforting spa like atmosphere. Committed to excellence and the highest standards in dental care, she spends numerous hours of continuing education every year, and stays abreast of the latest procedures and techniques.
In planning to start a family herself, she helped her long time friend, Dr. Jin Yi Kwon acquire the practice in 2010 where they continue to provide you the same level of care that her patients had gotten accustomed to. Though currently on maternity leave, Dr. Soch plans to continue to practice part time at Urban Oasis Dental while she embraces her new life of motherhood. She looks forward to seeing many of you again!
Claudia LaSmith
Claudia began with Urban Oasis Dental in 2006 as our Dental Assistant. In January 2007 she became Urban Oasis Dental’s first Office Manager. Her dedication to providing office and staff support, as well as high quality customer care, have had a strong influence in our office and continues to make our dental team strive for excellence.
Claudia grew up in Strasburg, Ohio and later in Greensboro, North Carolina. She attended the Dental Assisting program at Guilford Technical Community College and graduated in 2000. Claudia has also had additional training at the Nash Institute, where she was educated by top dental professionals. She has been in the dental field for over 10 years, and she has recently returned to school for furthering her career in the dental profession.
One of her proudest moments in the profession was organizing and planning the first Oral Cancer Walk in North Carolina, hosted by Urban Oasis Dental on April 17, 2009.
Holly Rucker 
Holly joined Urban Oasis in 2010 our Registered Dental Hygienist.
Holly grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina and now lives in Apex with her husband, 2 little boys, and her dog. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997 with a BA in Communications. She spent the next 6 years as a flight attendant for United Airlines, serving both North American and International routes, and was based in Chicago, IL and then in Washington, DC.
Holly went back to school in 2003, and received her AAS in Dental Hygiene from Wake Technical Community College. She graduated at the top of her class and was active in College Government as the Health Sciences Campus Senator and served as Vice President of the student Dental Hygiene association. She received awards from the ADA Foundation and the NC Dental Hygiene Academy of Advanced Studies. Holly currently serves as the alumni member of the Wake Tech Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee. When not at work, Holly enjoys trips to Emerald Isle, cheering for the Tar Heels, and serving in the childrens’ program at her church.
Holly is proud to call Urban Oasis home.

Holly prides herself in thorough dental cleanings and assessments, and will offer suggestions and recommendations of her findings. The hygiene room is equipped with aromatherapy, paraffin wax treatments, a massaging patient chair, cable TV, and digital radiographs. We are pleased to offer Oxyfresh product line to our patients (toothpastes, dental gels and rinses), as well as the Sonicare FlexCare electric toothbrush.
Samah Hadi
Samah joined Urban Oasis Dental in April 2011 as our lead dental assistant, after graduating from the Dental Institute of Charlotte in August 2010. Samah is originally from Rocky Mount in eastern North Carolina. She enjoys working closely with patients to improve their oral health. Patients love her warm, friendly smile and her dental expertise.
Prior to entering the dental field, Samah worked in sales and customer service for 4 years. She believes in treating patients like they are family, and providing them with a top-notch dental experience.
“Reviewing before and after dental cases and results is so rewarding which motivates me to continue my education in this exciting profession!” Samah is currently taking courses at Central Piedmont Community College, and she plans to further her career in the dental field.
While not at work, Samah enjoys couponing (you would be amazed how far she can stretch a dollar!), traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
